What is astigmatism?

Astigmatism is a disorder of the cornea.
A normal cornea is flat and has the same curvature in every direction, resulting in clear vision.
In the case of astigmatism, the curvature is more pronounced in one direction compared to the other. Vision is therefore distorted or unfocused.
