We are looking for an optometrist

We are looking for a (+/-) trilingual (Dutch, French, English), polyvalent optometrist (female/male).

We offer a full-time contract (38h/week). Your time schedule will be synchronized with Dr. Vryghem’s time schedule (surgeon/medical director).  A part-time schedule is also possible.

We ask flexibility as to the time schedule: flexible hours between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.

Main Tasks:

You will work in team with 6 ophthalmologists, 1 plastic surgeon, 6 polyvalent secretaries, 2 nurses, 2 other optometrists and report to the office manager and medical director.

Under supervision of an ophthalmologist:

  • communicating with patients to get detailed case histories
  • checking for signs and symptoms of general health conditions (e.g. diabetes)
  • measuring BCVA, UCVA, intermediate vision: pre- and post-operatively
  • contact lens fitting
  • using specialist equipment for diagnosis and testing

collaborating in scientific studies, analysis of the data, preparatory work for scientific presentations etc.

We ask some flexibility as to the tasks. You will be trained as a polyvalent team member:

Managing consultations in team:

  • welcoming and registering patients
  • performing measurements: technical examinations e.g. measurement of eye pressure…
  • informing patients on the different techniques, treatments, …
  • handling & registering of the patients payment (occasionally)

Telephonical screening of patients: scheduling appointments for consultations and surgery, answering patient’s questions, …

Administrative support: handling e-mails, filing, mail, confirming appointments, preparing files, making orders, … (occasionally)

Profile:

  • Degree as optometrist
  • Trilingual: oral (good) and written (good)
  • Knowledge of MS-office: word, (access), excel, PPT, …
