Epi-LASIK can be considered as a renewed PRK technique - analogue to LASEK - and can be used with patients who are not taken into consideration for LASIK because their cornea is too thin.
The results are comparable with the ones of LASIK but the healing process is slower. After 3 to 5 days the patients has a functional sight sharpness and after 3 weeks to a few months a stabilised sight sharpness. The advantage with regard to PRK is that EPI-LASIK is less painfull after the intervention.
