This intra-ocular operation is performed under local anaesthetic (injection or drops) and lasts 20 minutes. The ARTISAN implant is inserted through a small incision in the upper limbus and is fixed to the iris with 2 claws. There is no contact with the patient's lens, which retains its accommodation capacity.
