Possible risks

Halos may appear when very high myopia is treated in patients with broad pupils. Temporary rise of eye pressure has been described. In the long term, cataract has occurred in patients in whom the Implantable Contact Lens (I.C.L.) was inserted, due to contact between the I.C.L. and the crystalline lens. The newer Phakic Refractive Lens (P.R.L.) has a more rigid structure which allows it to float in front of the crystalline lens, diminishing the risk of cataract .
